Discovery-Based Retail is the proprietary system we use to identify improvement opportunities within your retail business. The system consists of a number of sequential processes. The following information outlines those processes and lets you know what to expect.
Manager Interview
What we do:
We have designed a series of questions that we will review with you as owner or manager of the study store. Through this process we will acquaint ourselves with your mental construct of your operation as it stands today. By focusing our attention to your desires, plans and expectations for the store we will be able to determine the level at which those plans are communicated to the various levels of your employees and then how well that plan is being manifested with your customer base.
Why we do it:
We realize that employees are a critical link to a store’s success. Often however a manager’s overall vision of store plans are not communicated clearly to the other employees. This shortcoming is often simply the result of inadequate time available. But a lack of shared vision results in a store staff that is not as productive as it could be and should be. In addition, after customer interviews are completed (see below) we will determine how your mental image of your store corresponds to your customers’.
The benefit:
This process helps you define your ideal customer and a strategy for attracting that customer. It sets in motion a strategy for solidly placing yourself and your employees on the same page…gets all of your horses pulling the same direction. It also helps you assess your attitude which is a most important element in your store’s success.
